Computer-based and Online Distance Education Courses
RE Campus
You must read this material and agree to abide by these policies before ordering or completing courses on-line or by CD-ROM.
School Approval
Barney Fletcher Schools is approved by the Georgia Real Estate Commission (the Commission) to offer distance education real estate courses. The School Code issued by the Commission is 40. The school renews its approval with the Commission on December 31, 2008.
The administrative offices of Barney Fletcher Schools are located at 3200 Cobb Galleria Parkway, Suite 275, Atlanta, Georgia, 30339 (known as our “Galleria 75” location). You may access directions to all of our classroom locations at www.barneyfletcher.com. The school’s phone number is (770) 850-9090. The fax number is (770) 850-9589. The administrative office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. As noted below, you may contact the school with questions about the subject content of your course through our email address designated for distance learning students, instructor@BarneyFletcher.com.
Each distance education course offered by Barney Fletcher Schools is approved under the regulations of the Commission. The Commission has authorized each course for a specific number of credit hours. You may finish the course in less time than the hours approved, or you may find that the course requires more time than that actually approved for the course. The school will give credit only for the hours authorized by the Commission for the specific course that you are taking. No partial credit will be given. Each distance education course offered through Barney Fletcher Schools is complete in itself. Our online and computer-based continuing education courses do not require that you attend any classroom hours. However, you will be required to take a proctored examination at a school location for prelicense or postlicense courses, as described below under Examinations.
Instructors
Barney Fletcher Schools utilizes a number of instructors approved under the regulations of the Commission. If you have questions regarding the content or subject area of your course, you may email your question to Barney Fletcher Schools at instructor@BarneyFletcher.com. One of our instructors will reply to you as soon as possible, usually no later than two business days from the date of your email message.
Technical Support
Barney Fletcher Schools believes in offering you a variety of distance education courses for your real estate education. The school offers courses from a number of companies and organizations that have developed online and computer-based education. Each course provider includes instructions on completing a distance education course, usually with sample exercises or demonstrations to assist you in understanding how to move through the modules of each course. In addition, each provider has its own technical assistance staff for any problems you may have with the operation of a course on your computer.
If you experience problems in a CD/ROM or online course, please contact the course provider as directed by online instructions or in your written material, or call a school administrator at (770) 850-9090 for assistance in reaching the technical support for your course.
Course Requirements
Each distance education course requires that you complete a certain number of learning modules including instructional text, quizzes, chapter tests, matching exercises or other learning activities. Salesperson prelicense courses will require you to submit completed contract forms, financial forms, or other homework assignments to the school prior to your taking a course final examination. Prelicense and postlicense courses require a final examination. No final examinations or any written assessments are required for continuing education courses.
In order for Barney Fletcher Schools to certify that you have completed a course, you must:
- complete each module of instruction;
- complete any online or paper homework or exercise required by the course;
- sign and return by mail or fax any printed certification statement required for the course, or if the course design permits, indicate in the program itself that you have personally completed each module of instruction; and
- pass any required course final examination at an approved school location.
Prelicense Examination Registration Form
If you are taking a Georgia prelicense course, you must fax or mail to the school a completed Georgia Real Estate Examination Registration Form as soon as you begin your course. To access the form, print the Candidate Handbook for the Georgia Real Estate Examination Program at www.goamp.com. The information on this form will be electronically submitted by the school to Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP) so that you may schedule your state licensing examination online or by phone once you complete the prelicense course and pass the course final examination. Failure to submit the form to the school in a timely manner may result in a delay in your ability to schedule the state real estate examination once you complete your prelicense course.
Written Assignments or Assessments
Distance learning salesperson prelicense courses include written forms and assessments that you must print, complete, and submit to the school before scheduling your course final examination. Each course includes information on the assessment forms and the information necessary to complete each form. Once you have completed all the forms or contracts, you may mail or hand deliver them to our administrative offices at the Galleria 75 location address given with this notice. Please mail or deliver all the forms at one time. A school administrator or instructor will review your forms to determine that you have completed all the forms. In the event that any form is not completed in a satisfactory manner, an administrator will contact you and you will be asked to revise and submit the form or contract. No student may schedule a sales prelicense final examination unless the written assessments are complete and satisfactory. Please do not attempt to fax the forms, as there are too many pages for a successful fax transmission.
Signed Course Certification Statement
The Commission requires that you certify that you have personally completed each module of a distance learning course and any written exercise or assessment required for completion of the course. You must either fax a signed certification statement to the school or certify your personal completion online as the course directs. The school will not process your course completion without your submitting a signed certification form. You may submit a certification form provided within your course, or print the certification form provided with this notice. Fax or mail the form to the school when you have completed all required modules of the course.
Course Final Examinations
The Commission requires that a student successfully pass a proctored final examination for each sales prelicense (75 hours), broker prelicense (60 hours), or sales postlicense (25 hour) course. Barney Fletcher Schools requires that you answer correctly a minimum of 75% of the total questions on a final examination to pass the course. No proctored final examination is required for any continuing education course of 24 hours or less.
You may take a course final examination only after completing all other requirements for a course and only after the school has received your signed course certification statement. You must contact a school administrator to schedule a final examination. Normally examinations for distance education courses are administered twice weekly at our testing center at the Galleria 75 school location in Atlanta, Georgia, and periodically at St. Simon’s Island, Georgia. Course examinations may not be administered at any other site without the prior authorization of the School Director.
If you do not pass the course final examination, Barney Fletcher Schools will provide you at no charge an opportunity to pass a second, separate examination. You must score a minimum of 75% correct to pass the second examination. If you do not pass the second exam, the Commission requires that you retake the course a second time. The school will provide you a discount for the second course, or you may enroll in a classroom course for a discounted fee.
Credit for Duplicate Courses
Commission regulations state that a real estate licensee who has successfully completed an approved continuing education course to meet any part of the continuing education requirement may not repeat that course for credit unless one full year has passed since the completion of the course.
Time Limit
Barney Fletcher Schools requires that you complete any course within 180 days of your enrollment date. The school may grant an extension for a student who experiences unforeseen hardship or difficulty in completing the course within that time. You must contact a course administrator to request an extension of your course. The school and/or the course provider may require a fee to extend your course completion deadline. In order for you to retain knowledge and pass course examinations, the school recommends that you complete the course requirements as soon as possible, no later than 180 days from your enrollment date.
Course Completion Records
Barney Fletcher Schools will submit your successful completion of a course to the Commission (for postlicense and continuing education courses) or to AMP (for all prelicense courses) through secure internet transmission programs. Normally the school does not issue paper course completion certificates. If you require a paper certificate from the school for another state’s requirements or for some other purpose, you must contact a school administrator prior to your completing the course. The school will charge a $10.00 administrative fee to issue a paper certificate for an approved course.
Prohibition of Recruiting
No recruiting for employment opportunities for any real estate brokerage firm is allowed on the school premises. Report promptly any effort to recruit by anyone to the School Director at (770) 850-9090, or to the Georgia Real Estate Commission at (404) 656-3916.
The Commission permits the school to offer special career nights featuring real estate brokers or real estate brokerage firms under conditions specified in the rules of the Commission.
Non-Discrimination Policy
Barney Fletcher Schools does not base course fees, entrance standards, or standards for successful completion of a course on a student’s race, color, sex, religion, national origin, handicap or familial status.
Questions About School Policies and Procedures
Barney Fletcher Schools expects each student who completes a distance learning course to have read and followed these school policies and procedures. If you have any questions about these policies, please call a school administrator at (770) 850-9090.
