Once you are registered as an appraiser with the Georgia Real Estate Appraiser Board, you may begin earning experience credit for your hours appraising residential properties under the supervision of certified appraiser. The Board requires a minimum of twenty appraisals to be completed with a supervisor in earning the 2000 hours required to become a state licensed real estate appraiser.
The Fast Start course is your first step in signing up with a supervising appraiser, a mentor, on your way to earning your 2000 hours. Over several weeks including two Saturdays of classes, you and your fellow students will inspect a residential property, search databases for comparable properties, and complete a residential appraisal with the most advanced appraisal software available, all under the supervision of a certified appraiser. If you choose, you may sign an agreement to continue working after the class with certified residential or certified general appraisers as your mentors to complete at least twenty appraisals. You may also take the Fast Start course without signing up for the mentor program—while taking advantage of the supervision offered during the class itself.
Johnny Wilson and Judy Bost of appraisers /Wilson and Associates teach the Fast Start course. Johnny is the president of appraisers/Wilson and Associates and a state certified general real property appraiser. Judy is a certified residential real property appraiser, an FHA approved appraiser, and an Associate Member of the Appraisal Institute with over 16 years of full-time experience appraising single family residences in Atlanta.
