Professional Instructors and Staff
Barney Fletcher and Pame Childress lead the staff of highly qualified instructors.
Barney Fletcher has been involved in real estate education as an instructor, manager or owner since 1971. He grew up in Brunswick, Georgia and, while in high school, he worked afternoons, weekends and summers for a local real estate and insurance agency primarily as an “office boy”. That job was his introduction to real estate and it made a lasting impression on him.
He did his undergraduate work at the University of Georgia in Athens, graduating in 1967 with majors in real estate and insurance. He obtained his Masters of Business Administration with a major in real estate from Georgia State University. In 1973, he purchased the Distance Learning division of the Georgia Institute of Real Estate (renaming it the National Institute of Real Estate). NIRE was one of the first two schools approved by the Georgia Real Estate Commission and was the first Distant Learning school approved in Georgia.
He is a former director of the Georgia Institute of Real Estate; founder of Barney Fletcher Schools; he owns or has owned Accelerated Courses in Real Estate, Barney Fletcher Publishing, Allied School of Real Estate, Real Estate Tapes Unlimited, Real Estate Training Systems, and Atlanta Institute of Real Estate. In 1986, Barney Fletcher Enterprises, Inc. was formed as a holding company for the different interests.
Barney is a charter member of the Real Estate Educators Association (REEA). In 1983, while at a Chicago REEA Conference, Barney began networking with other successful school owners across the country and eventually became the founding father of Inner Circle Education which later became RealtyU, a national company comprised of over 40 independently owned schools in over 40 states.
Barney is an inaugural member of the Georgia Real Estate Commission’s Educational Advisory Committee, a founding member of the Georgia Real Estate Educators Association and a recipient of their “Distinguished Career Award”. Additionally, he has received recognition from RealtyU as “School of the Year” and is a recipient of their “Award of Excellence”.
